Unlined canvas; faint stretcher creases along edges; under UV exam, there appears to be minor overpaint/strengthening in the rigging, profile and linear elements of the sailboat, and a 4-in vertical surface scratch addressed with inpainting in lower right corner, visible in natural light.

The Jean and Graham Devoe Williford Charitable Trust; Heritage Auctions, May 10, 2014, lot 70097; Acquired by the present owner from the above. There appears to be an unfinished oil sketch of a pastoral scene on the reverse.
